How we check facts

Editorial standards

Where our gate prices, planning and safety facts come from, how and when we check them, who maintains the site, and how to report an error.

Who maintains this site

Driveway Gates is run by Bartlomiej Standa, a sole trader trading as Elevate Ireland. He writes and checks the pages. Contact: hello@drivewaygates.ie.

It's an introduction service, not a gate company, and it isn't connected to any council or government body.

Sources we use

  • Irish gate installers' and guides' published prices: BM Alarm Systems, FÁLÚ (Alustyle), Cork Security Gates and ShamFix.ie.
  • Council guidance on exempted development: Clare County Council and Kildare County Council.
  • The Health and Safety Authority, for powered gate safety.

How we check a figure

  • We read it at its source and record the date we read it and the date the source gives.
  • We say whether a price includes VAT, or that the source doesn't say. We never add VAT ourselves.
  • We don't estimate or fill gaps. If a figure can't be confirmed at its source, it's left out. Two sources we couldn't load on 28 October 2026 aren't used.
  • Where sources disagree, we show both and say so.

How often

Prices and planning facts are re-checked at least once a month. Every price page shows the date its figures were last checked. The current check was done on 28 October 2026.

What we never publish

Reviews, ratings, customer counts, badges or response-time promises. Planning advice dressed up as a ruling. Prices we haven't confirmed.

Report an error

If a figure is wrong or out of date, email hello@drivewaygates.ie with the page and the source. We check it at the source, correct the page and update the date.
